This true macro lens offers full lifesize 1:1 (1x) magnification for breathtaking closeup photography. As it focuses from 6.4” all the way to infinity, this lens can be left on the camera for all other kinds of general photography including portraits and landscapes, the 40mm perspective being particularly pleasing to the eye. Its bright f/2.8 maximum aperture and light weight make this a viable proposition.

This high resolution and high contrast lens is also suitable for movies thanks to its extra fast and quiet Silent Wave Motor which uses ultrasound, inaudible to the human ear, to move the lens barrel. If you prefer to manually focus a particular image, all you need do in M/A Mode is move the focus barrel on the lens and it will automatically detect your override, giving you instant control.
